KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Julia Cosgrove is the Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of Afar, a new magazine devoted to experiential travel. In its first year, Afar picked up a Lowell Thomas Gold Award for Best Travel Magazine; earned four stars from the New York Post; and was named one of Folio's Most Notable Launches. The magazine was also selected as a Martha Stewart "Find."

Julia has been a writer and editor at media companies big and small, including Time Out and the Meredith Corporation. She last served as deputy editor of the DIY design magazine ReadyMade, when the magazine was a finalist for a National Magazine Award in general excellence. She was part of the original launch team behind Time Out New York Kids.

Julia's byline has appeared in such magazines as GOOD, Interview, Time Out New York, and BusinessWeek. She has been a featured expert on local TV and radio stations. A graduate of Barnard College, Julia recently taught a course on magazine writing and design at the d.school at Stanford University.
