Whistler & The Sunshine Coast Press Trip

4 nights/5 days

Day One

All aboard! This morning depart Vancouver bright and early on Rocky Mountaineer's Whistler Sea-to-Sky Climb journey, enjoying breakfast onboard the luxury train. Arriving in the 2010 Winter Olympic Host Resort late morning, check into your Whistler hotel for two nights, before walking down to Whistler Village for a casual lunch. Whistler is all about the balance between adventure and indulgence: this afternoon, find your balance with a choice of either a guided hike into Whistler's alpine, or a relaxing spa treatment.

Tonight toast British Columbia by sabering a bottle of bubbles at the Bearfoot Bistro - the owner holds the Guinness World Record for the most bottles of Champagne sabered in a minute with 21 bottles! Then enjoy dinner at one of Whistler's finest restaurants, Araxi.

Day Two

Start the morning with breakfast at the hotel and then head out take the amazing PEAK2PEAK gondola spanning both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. After lunch, set out on a Ziptrek eco-adventure: five ziplines are joined by a network of suspension bridges, boardwalks and trails offering stunning aerial vistas. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore Whistler's laid-back village before dinner at Alta Bistro, a new spot favoured by locals keen on seasonal, regional eating. For those not ready to call it a night, it's time to experience Whistler's legendary nightlife for yourself!

Day Three

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and visit the Squamish Lilwat Cultural Centre in the Upper Village. The centre is a must-see for those interested in the First Nations cultures of the region. Departing Whistler late morning, head to Horseshoe Bay just north of Vancouver to take BC Ferries to Langdale on the Sunshine Coast. A waterfront seafood lunch will be waiting for you before boarding the ferry. Once on the Sunshine Coast, stop at Gibson's Landing, a spot perfect for strolling, made famous as the home to "Molly's Reach" on the Beachcombers TV series. Continuing on to your hotel for the next two nights, Rockwater Secret Cove Resort. Dinner tonight will be at the resort, watching the sun set over Malaspina Straight.

Day Four

Surrounded by temperate rainforest, the Sunshine Coast is known for its vibrant arts scene, taking inspiration from the lush surroundings. Today venture into Sechelt to explore the town's galleries and independent stores. After lunch, board a boat tour taking us along the peaceful, sheltered waters to do a little wildlife watching and scenery-viewing. Other activity alternatives include kayaking along the coastal shoreline, or an easy hike to Skookumchuck Narrows. Don't forget your camera! The rest of the afternoon will be free to allow you to enjoy the resort before heading out for dinner.

Day Five

After breakfast, we'll check out and head back to the ferry, making a stop in charming Roberts Creek, a community known around the world for its beautiful beaches, undisturbed views and, less predictably, its woodworking school. After a stop at the always-funky Gumboot Garden Cafe, continue to Langdale to get the ferry back to Vancouver.
