"The World's Sexiest Small City" Published by National Geographic Traveler

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (February 24, 2010) - Falling hard for one of the world's sexiest spots has earned travel writer, blogger and inveterate wanderer David Lansing a 2009 Eddie Award for editorial excellence as announced in the December 2009 issue of FOLIO: magazine. The FOLIO: Awards is the largest competition in the magazine publishing industry, honoring the most creative and provocative editorial and design work in the magazine industry.

On his first visit to Perugia - a beguiling hamlet in Umbria, Italy - Lansing quickly succumbed to the charms of this history-steeped medieval hill town. His award-winning article, "The World's Sexiest Small City," appeared in the November 2008 edition of National Geographic Traveler. Filled with intriguing anecdotes and musings, the article was awarded a FOLIO: Gold Eddie in the "Travel Writing Category."

A longtime freelance writer and columnist for high-profile publications ranging from Sunset magazine to the Los Angeles Times, Lansing recently launched his blog, "Travel Writing from a Modern-day Flâneur," chronicling his global wanderings on his Web site, www.davidlansing.com. To date he has posted almost 400 entries covering his adventures in over 30 countries, from Cuba to Monaco. The blog name is derived from a French term meaning "to ramble" and was popularized by Charles Baudelaire in the 19th century. Lansing-style travel writing is motivated by his ramblings around the world and the people experiences he has on his trips. The blog enables his readers to armchair travel and share his experiences - vicariously living his stories rather than simply reading them.

Lansing has been a contributing writer, columnist or editor for some of the country's top newspapers and magazines. His writing has been anthologized in "Best American Travel Writing," "Travel Tales" and many other publications.
