New Year Pine Cone Drop Returns to Flagtaff, Arizona
At 7,000 feet in the largest Ponderosa Pine forest in the U.S., Flagstaff, AZ is home to the Great New Year's Eve Pine Cone drop! This special event draws thousands of visitors and locals into downtown Flagstaff, where a five-foot by seven-foot gold and silver aluminum pinecone drops from the balcony of the historic Weatherford Hotel, and includes a block party in the historic downtown core. Bikes Rule in SouthWest Germany
SouthWest Germany will enjoy the celebration of the bicyle. Two hundred years ago in Mannheim, Baron von Drais created a two-wheeler, a "Laufmaschine," or running machine, that became recognized as the first bicycle. On June 12, 1817, Karl von Drais made the maiden voyage with his new two wheeler through the streets of Mannheim. Starting November 11 and going through July 25, the exhibition "Two Wheels, Two Hundred Years, Baron von Drais and the History of the Bicycle" will be on display in Mannheim's TECHNOSEUM, one of Germany's top technical and science museums. The Tschuggen Grand Hotel reopens its door for the winter season on December 8, 2016. During the first weekend of the ski season, from December 1 - 4, guests are invited to experience their very own Private Mountain and hotel ski lift, the Tschuggen Express, themed "Back to the Roots" which will feature a Heidi and Peter party in traditional Swiss attire or alpine-chic.
